Thanks for visiting Hop Hollow.
I do not know exactly where to start our beer soap adventure story.
There were so many factors that crashed together at once.
...Desperation to find a soap that didn't leave our skin feeling dry, itchy and blotchy.
...Spending too much money on "specialty" soaps, creams, lotions and even prescriptions
that only made things worse.
...Trying that one little bar of handmade soap from a vendor at a local, summer fair and researching
the benefits of some of the oils.
The unexpected piece of our natural soap process came from our love of craft beer and the explosion of great, local breweries, pouring a wild variety of hoppy beverages. These inventive brewers create beers that run the gamut of citrusy, floral, malty, coffee, earthy, herbal and smoky sweet flavors and aromatics.
Then, after stumbling upon an article about a spa in Prague, boasting the benefits of bathing in beer; allowing the hops and brewer’s yeast to soften and soothe your skin............ We knew we had to incorporate those satisfying sudz with our blend of natural, beneficial plant oils.
The roots of Hop Hollow took hold.
It didn’t take us long to find our perfect combination of natural plant oils and beer, however, with so many creative brews and beneficial oils out there, we continue to find new and exciting combinations.

Simple, Sustainable and Responsible.
With any business, the responsibility is great and the choices we make matter; today, tomorrow and beyond.
Hop Hollow will continue to stay true to our simple, natural spirit and have made the following important decisions regarding our business mission.
- Rain forest depletion is real and alarming. We have chosen to omit the use of palm oil from our recipes. Because this oil is cheaper than many other plant oils, manufacturers will boast the use of “sustainable” palm oil. We believe that the laws regulating palm oil harvesting often have loopholes and cracks that can be taken advantage of by irresponsible, money hungry Big Business. We will not use it.
- Dedication to our local craft breweries and our small business community. We also know that it is so important to seek out fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. Therefore, although we may experiment with brews from near and far, Hop Hollow will continue to focus on small, local, breweries, farms, and families.
- Treading Lightly. Hop Hollow will stay away from excessive, plastic and packaging. Currently, our soap wraps are made by using recycled paper grocery bags. We plan to stick with this as long as possible. When our production volume becomes too great to continue this practice, we promise to keep any printed paper labels or wraps simple and small.
- Making a Difference. We are proud advocates for children with Dyslexia and donate a portion of Hop Hollow sales to Dyslexia awareness and education. Dyslexia affects 1 in 5 children, is surprisingly under-addressed in our public school systems and is one of the underlying reasons teenagers drop out of school. Research shows that untreated Dyslexia contributes greatly to depression, anxiety, juvenile delinquency, incarceration and even drug/alcohol dependency. The consequences for children with dyslexia that do not receive early and appropriate interventions are devastating.
